Awards and Recognition
Daines Kapp has been an independent, family-owned insurance broker since 1989. Independent judging is a useful test of whether the way we work for clients stands comparison with the best in the market, and this page records the recognition the firm and its people have received. We update it as results are announced.
2026: finalists at three national awards
In 2026 Daines Kapp was named a finalist at the British Insurance Awards, the UK Broker Awards and the Insurance Times Awards, shortlisted in six categories across the three programmes.
British Insurance Awards 2026
Categories: Insurance Broker of the Year; Small Broker of the Year.
Host: Insurance Post. Ceremony: Royal Albert Hall, London, 8 July 2026.
Result: Finalist in both categories.
What the judges saw: a family-founded independent broker competing in the open Broker of the Year category alongside the largest firms in the market, on the strength of bespoke advice, client care and service.

UK Broker Awards 2026
Categories: Commercial Lines Insurance Broker of the Year; Insurance Broker of the Year for London & the South East.
Host: Insurance Age. Ceremony: The Vox, NEC Birmingham, 8 October 2026, as part of UK Broker Week.
Result: To be announced on 8 October 2026.
What the judges saw: commercial advice for businesses across London and the South East, clear plain-English documentation, a proactive approach to uninsured exposures and a commitment to developing talent through apprenticeships.

Insurance Times Awards 2026
Categories: Commercial Lines Broker of the Year; Excellence in AI.
Host: Insurance Times. Ceremony: Grosvenor House, London, 2 December 2026.
Result: To be announced on 2 December 2026.
What the judges saw: growth built on advice rather than premium volume, a named adviser for every client, and AI tools built in-house to make bespoke advice clearer and faster, with a qualified broker approving every document.

Recognition for our people
George Worby, Account Handler, was named Insurance Practitioner Apprentice of the Year 2023 at the inaugural CII and PFS Apprenticeship Awards, presented by the Chartered Insurance Institute at the Insurance Hall, London, on 9 November 2023. George was invited to return as a judge at the 2025 awards. Read more about George’s award.
Stefan Daines, Broking Director, is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a Chartered Insurance Broker, and has served on the CII Community Broking Board since 2024.
Accreditations and memberships
Daines Kapp is a BIBA Accredited Cyber Insurance Broker, recognised by the British Insurance Brokers’ Association for specialist cyber expertise. The firm is a member of BIBA and the Institute of Insurance Brokers, and a member of WTW Networks (Willis Networks), which gives clients access to the wider specialist insurance market. In 2025 BIBA featured Daines Kapp for its work helping a client obtain flood cover through the BIBA Flood Insurance Directory.
How the judging works
Each programme is judged independently. Firms submit a written entry against published criteria, and shortlisted entrants are then interviewed or present to a judging panel before the winners are chosen. Daines Kapp is judged against brokers of every size, including national and international groups, in the open categories.
